Maybe I should get off the couch

Over my adult Christmas break, I have shamelessly watched lots of movies and Netflix.  Here are some ones I’ve loved.

Parenthood

This show is in its fourth season, but I just started watching it after hearing from so many people how amazing it is.  Thanks to Netflix, I watched all of season one in two days.  Now I’m on season two and according to friends, I should start crying soon.

At first it was weird seeing Lorelai Gilmore without Rory and Luke, but now I’ve accepted it.  Braverman family, I don’t know what it is about you, but I love you.

Plus, I love that they sit outside and eat.  I’m pretty sure no other family does that all the time with all their cousins, but they make it look like it’s normal.

Les Misérables

What the critics are saying is true, it’s superb.  Well, Russell Crowe wasn’t the best singer, but everyone else, wow.  I especially loved Eponine.

Argo

Ben Affleck, super job.  It was a story I didn’t know much about and was told very well.

I’d also like to give Anna Karenina and To Rome with Love honorable mentions.  Everyone loved Lincoln, but I’m not a fair critic because I was multi-tasking during it.  It was a little slow for me.

Downton Abbey

Spoiler Alert: DO NOT SCROLL DOWN UNLESS YOU’VE WATCHED THE SEASON 3 CHRISTMAS EPISODE.  Basically, all Americans except Daynes, my mother and sisters turn away.

Ok.  Welcome UK streamers!  First, it was William and I understood that.  Then they took Sybil and I was angry.  But now, Matthew?  Really Julian Fellowes, I know he wanted to leave the show, but could you not come up with a better way for him to leave?  Not when Mary just had a baby boy.  Maybe be called by the military to India.  I’m not even a writer and that took two seconds to think of.

Darn you Dan Stevens for leaving the show.  I will not support your Broadway show.  Downton made you famous and now you’re turning your back on us.  Ugh!!

Now everyone is saying how excited they are for season three to start on PBS.  It’s taking everything in me to not scream out, “Don’t do it.  It’s too hard.”  Soon enough, they will know.

I feel so much sympathy for Mary.  If you need me, I’ll be trying to hide my puffy eyes.

and maybe do something other than watch tv.
